A Gospel Shabbat

Bar'chu /
Come, Let Us Praise
Refrain:
Come, let us bless the Lord together
Come, let us praise the Lord and say
Blessed is the Lord for ever and ever
Come, let us bless the Lord today

We praise You, God, the King of heaven
Your wisdom opens heaven's doors
You make the ages pass and seasons change
Bless God for ever more

[Refrain]

You bring the night that ends the day time
You bring the dawn that ends the night
You set the paths of the stars as they go through the sky
And we are all precious in Your sight

[Refrain]

So when we lie down at evening
And when we rise for the day
We will rejoice in You and all of Your ways
We lift You up and we give You praise

[Refrain]

Sh'ma /
Listen!
Refrain:
Listen, Listen, Listen: God is one.

So love the Lord with all your being
With all your mind, and a ll your heart
That's everything, everything you are
And take these words that I have given
Into your heart and in your home
Throughout your life, each and every day.

[Refrain]

And teach these words to all your children
Teach them with dilligence and love,
Teach faithfully, bring them up with me
Keep them in mind in all your dealings
In all you see and all you do
Remember the One eternal God

[Refrain]

Mi Chamocha /
Who Is Like You?
Refrain:
Who is like you o Lord, our God?
Who is like you o Lord, our God?
Who is like you o Lord, our God?
There's noone who is like our God

When Moses and all the people crossed the Red Sea
His big sister, Miriam, said, "Glory to thee!"

Your people were suffering in misery
Until you redeemed them out of slavery

Through Moses and Aaron your will was done
Then Frederick and Abraham, their spiritual sons

Mohandas and Martin gave the best that they could
And like them I promise that I'll try to do good

Refrain (Hebrew):
Mi chamocha baeilim Adonai
Mi kamocha ne'edar bakodesh
Nora t'hilot
Ose fele

Hashkiveinu /
Let Us Lie Down In Peace
Let us lie down in peace when evening comes.
And raise us up again with the rising sun.
Spread over us Your sheltering peace and guide us with Your word
Let sounds of hatred, war and strife fade and never more be heard.

Let us lie down to rest, Oh Lord of peace
Spread out a refuge that will never, ever cease
We praise You, God, our gracious King, we sanctify Your name
Watch over as we come and go. Let us be mindful of Your word, and never be the same

Hashkiveinu, Adonai, l'shalom
V'haamideinu, Malkeinu, l'chayim
Baruch Ata Adonai, haporeis sukat shalom
Aleinu v'al kol amo Yisraeil, v'al haolam kulo, v'al Yerushalayim

(Let us lie down, Adonai, in peace
And raise us up to life
Blessed are You, Adonai, who spreads out a shelter of peace
Over us, over the people Israel, and over the world, and Jerusalem)

Amidah /
Open My Lips
Refrain:
Open my lips, Lord, my God, so that my mouth may sing your praise
Open our lips, Lord, our God, and our voices we will raise.
Blessed are You, Lord, our God
God of our fathers, praised is Your name
Mighty and great, loving and good,
God of our mothers You are the same. Refrain Giver of life, giver of love
It is through love that life is grown,
As with our fathers and our mothers
That love of God is now our own. Refrain You are the source, the giver of life,
You bring the dew, the wind and the rain,
You healed the sick and freed the captive,
Just as you've done, you'll do again. Refrain It is through Your great compassion,
that You are there to help when we fall,
Blessed are You, Adonai,
You who revive and give life to all. Refrain Holy are You and holy Your name,
And the holy give You praise,
Blessed are You, Adonai,
Holy then and in our own days.

Let us give praise to the Creator of heaven and of earth
Your glory shines throughout the heavens and is revealed in every birth
You're our God, there is none else in heaven and on earth below,
Great is Your power and greater Your love, much greater than we'll ever know. Refrain Let the time be near, O God, on earth as in heaven above,
When fear and hate shall be no more and all will turn to you in love. Refrain Then God will reign as it was said, "Adonai's will will be done"
And on that day God's name will be one and all will hear, "The Lord is One."
